Happy Father's Day

Dear Family and Loved Ones,

Happy Father’s Day!  I thought it would be appropriate to share a Father’s Day Tribute to Ted from two of our sister missionaries:

P – powerful speaker

R – really knows his scriptures

E – exemplifies the Christlike attributes

S – smiles to warm every heart

I  - intelligent

D – diligent always

E – extra amazing

N – never frowning

T – tells wonderful stories

B – best mission president!

U – uber caring

B – believer, example of I Tim 4:12

E – edifies

R – remembers the Lord always

T – trustworthy

It was a wonderful Father’s Day; Sacrament meeting was great, we enjoyed a visit from one of our former missionaries (he was one of our first assistants who welcomed us to Long Beach) and Ted’s phone received many texts and calls, (of course the ones he enjoyed and appreciated the most came from our kids in Utah).

Last week was spent taking care of interviews for half of the mission, the other half of the missionaries will be interviewed this week.  Since our mission is so small none of the missionaries are too far away – which means it doesn’t take long to get to the various church buildings where each zone is interviewed.  There are about 20 missionaries in each zone and nine zones.  It’s always good to spend one on one time with each missionary.

It’s wonderful to see our missionaries grow and learn.  I am always telling them that their mission will prepare them for life, especially to be great Dads and Moms.  They are learning to organize their time (they spend 30 minutes planning each night and plan for 2-3 hours once a week), they talk to everyone, they study and they teach.  They learn how to set Doctor’s appointments and take care of health issues.  Missionaries learn to budget their money and to cook (a few are very good cooks). They are experts at fixing bikes (you would be amazed at what they can do with a roll of duct tape).  Most importantly the Elders are learning how to use their Priesthood to bless the lives of others and they are all learning to develop and exercise their faith as they pray for those they teach.

I am so grateful for my wonderful Father, he is a great example to all of us and continues to bless us with his wisdom and strength.  Ted is an amazing Dad and is a great influence for good in the lives of our children and our missionaries.  I feel blessed to have so many other great men in my life including my sons, sons-in-laws, our missionaries, Church leaders, community leaders, etc!

 We love you all!
