Movin' On

Dear Family and Loved Ones,

Well, tomorrow begins a new adventure for us in the mission.  The packers arrive at 8:00 a.m. to pack up the current mission home.  Tuesday morning they will come and move us to the new mission home in Rossmoor.  We have mixed feelings and are surprised at how attached we are to the current mission home, neighborhood and ward after just four months.

Rossmoor is a beautiful development (mostly houses, schools and parks) just north of Seal Beach.  The new home is in a great location, ten minutes from the mission office, fifteen minutes from the airport, seven minutes from school and early morning seminary (yeah!), close to shopping, etc.  The new home is lovely and has a big great room, perfect for gathering the missionaries and firesides.

Ted had an extremely busy week training the zone leaders, district leaders and trainers.  He also spoke in a fifth Sunday meeting and a fireside today.  The fireside included a Polynesian choir from Torrance, California.  The men were dressed in their lava lavas.  They sang for almost an hour. The songs were from "The Living Christ".  Several recently reactivated sisters also shared powerful testimonies.  Ted said that the Spirit was so strong but he was concerned throughout the choir's performance that the talk he had prepared on prayer wasn't the right one to share.  By the time it was his turn he was inspired to talk about how we find Christ.  He started by sharing the story of two year old Stacey ending up in the middle of the road, wearing nothing but her diaper, in front of our old West Bountiful house on 10th North (Ted was babysitting at the time).  Cars were stopped in both directions and Mary Wild came running from her yard to rescue Stacey.  Ted realized that traffic was stopped in front of the house and was very embarrassed to go and retrieve Stacey from Mary's arms.  He turned to the empty house and said, "Cathy, I found Stacey, she's out in the road."  Ted then related the story of Mary and Joseph looking for the twelve year old Jesus in Jerusalem and reminded everyone where we should look for Christ; in the scriptures, prayer, church attendance, etc.

Ben and Mari are doing great in school and making many friends.  There are so many activities for the youth in church, most of the activities are multi-stake activities, there is a dance nearly every weekend!

When Ted was set apart by Elder Hales he gave us all some counsel and said, if we can become good at change and learn to adjust well, we will be happy and grow in ways we never could otherwise. I'm sure our adjustment to our new home, neighborhood and ward will be a growing experience for our family and that we will soon feel right at home.

Thank you for your love, faith and prayers!
